add missing headers

Fix bungle: /-lpthread/-pthread/

Emit the compiler variable in 'make info'.

Add Add -lpthread to all compilers (not just GCC).

Remove annoying PRINT statement: "Taking out the garbage!".

Add -lpthread to CXXFLAGS/LDFLAGS (needed by GCC 5).

Cleanup destroyers and improve selftest.
