Plant diseases causes many significant damages and losses in crops around the world. Some suitable measures on disease identification should be introduced to prevent damages and minimize losses. Early Detection of Disease helps in increasing the crop productivity as well as in minimizing expense. Technical approaches using machine learning and computer vision are actively researched to achieve intelligence farming by early detection on plant disease. The accuracy of object detection and recognition systems has been drastically improved by the recent development in Deep Neural Networks. By using these systems and implementation of computer vision and machine learning techniques, plant diseases can be detected. Here we have used transfer learning based approach to diagnose diseases of different plants using its images captured by camera devices either drone or smartphone. Our goal is to build a market oriented product for Plant Disease Detection, a smartphone app compatible with both smartphone camera and drone camera. The target group of the user is those who request a quick diagnosis on common leaf disease at any time of the day i.e. Farmers, agricultural industries, agricultural consultants and Government Agencies & Departments.

3D object detection and recognition based on RGBD Image using Pointcloud and Artificial Neural Network at ROS Workspace
With recent advances in both Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, it is more possible than ever to implement surveillance systems that can automatically identify people who might represent a potential security threat to the public in real-time. Imagine a surveillance camera system that can detect various on-body weapons, suspicious objects, and traffic. This system could transform surveillance cameras from passive sentries into active observers, which would help prevent a possible mass shooting in a school, stadium, or mall. In this project, we tried to realize such systems by implementing Smart-Monitor, an AI-powered threat detector for intelligent surveillance cameras. The developed system can be deployed locally on the surveillance cameras at the network edge. Deploying AI-enabled surveillance applications at the edge enables the initial analysis of the captured images on-site, reducing the communication overheads and enabling swift security actions. We developed a mobile app that users can detect suspicious objects in an image and video captured by several cameras at the network edge. Also, the model can generate a high-quality segmentation mask for each object instance in the photo, along with the confidence percentage. The camera side used a Raspberry Pi 4 device, Neural Compute Stick 2 (NCS 2), Logitech C920 webcam, motion sensors, buzzers, pushbuttons, LED lights, Python Face recognition, and TensorFlow Custom Object Detection. When the system detects a motion in the surrounding environment, the motion sensors send a signal to the Raspberry Pi device notifying it to start capturing images for such physical activity. Using Python’s face recognition and TensorFlow 2 custom object detection Smart-Monitor can recognize eight classes, including a baseball bat, bird, cat, dog, gun, hammer, knife, and human faces. Finally, we evaluated our system using various performance metrics such as classification time and accuracy, scalability, etc.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have empowered our lives to a large extent. The number of advancements made in this space has revolutionized our society and continue making society a better place to live in. In terms of perception, both Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are often used in the same context which leads to confusion. AI is the concept in which machine makes smart decisions whereas Machine Learning is a sub-field of AI which makes decisions while learning patterns from the input data. In this blog, we would dissect each term and understand how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are related to each other. What is Artificial Intelligence? The term Artificial Intelligence was recognized first in the year 1956 by John Mccarthy in an AI conference. In layman terms, Artificial Intelligence is about creating intelligent machines which could perform human-like actions. AI is not a modern-day phenomenon. In fact, it has been around since the advent of computers. The only thing that has changed is how we perceive AI and define its applications in the present world. The exponential growth of AI in the last decade or so has affected every sphere of our lives. Starting from a simple google search which gives the best results of a query to the creation of Siri or Alexa, one of the significant breakthroughs of the 21st century is Artificial Intelligence. The Four types of Artificial Intelligence are:- Reactive AI – This type of AI lacks historical data to perform actions, and completely reacts to a certain action taken at the moment. It works on the principle of Deep Reinforcement learning where a prize is awarded for any successful action and penalized vice versa. Google’s AlphaGo defeated experts in Go using this approach. Limited Memory – In the case of the limited memory, the past data is kept on adding to the memory. For example, in the case of selecting the best restaurant, the past locations would be taken into account and would be suggested accordingly. Theory of Mind – Such type of AI is yet to be built as it involves dealing with human emotions, and psychology. Face and gesture detection comes close but nothing advanced enough to understand human emotions. Self-Aware – This is the future advancement of AI which could configure self-representations. The machines could be conscious, and super-intelligent. Two of the most common usage of AI is in the field of Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. Computer Vision is the study of identifying objects such as Face Recognition, Real-time object detection, and so on. Detection of such movements could go a long way in analyzing the sentiments conveyed by a human being. Natural Language Processing, on the other hand, deals with textual data to extract insights or sentiments from it. From ChatBot Development to Speech Recognition like Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri all uses Natural Language to extract relevant meaning from the data. It is one of the widely popular fields of AI which has found its usefulness in every organization. One other application of AI which has gained popularity in recent times is the self-driving cars. It uses reinforcement learning technique to learn its best moves and identify the restrictions or blockage in front of the road. Many automobile companies are gradually adopting the concept of self-driving cars. What is Machine Learning? Machine Learning is a state-of-the-art subset of Artificial Intelligence which let machines learn from past data, and make accurate predictions. Machine Learning has been around for decades, and the first ML application that got popular was the Email Spam Filter Classification. The system is trained with a set of emails labeled as ‘spam’ and ‘not spam’ known as the training instance. Then a new set of unknown emails is fed to the trained system which then categorizes it as ‘spam’ or ‘not spam.’ All these predictions are made by a certain group of Regression, and Classification algorithms like – Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, XGBoost, and so on. The usability of these algorithms varies based on the problem statement and the data set in operation. Along with these basic algorithms, a sub-field of Machine Learning which has gained immense popularity in recent times is Deep Learning. However, Deep Learning requires enormous computational power and works best with a massive amount of data. It uses neural networks whose architecture is similar to the human brain. Machine Learning could be subdivided into three categories – Supervised Learning – In supervised learning problems, both the input feature and the corresponding target variable is present in the dataset. Unsupervised Learning – The dataset is not labeled in an unsupervised learning problem i.e., only the input features are present, but not the target variable. The algorithms need to find out the separate clusters in the dataset based on certain patterns. Reinforcement Learning – In this type of problems, the learner is rewarded with a prize for every correct move, and penalized for every incorrect move. The application of Machine Learning is diversified in various domains like Banking, Healthcare, Retail, etc. One of the use cases in the banking industry is predicting the probability of credit loan default by a borrower given its past transactions, credit history, debt ratio, annual income, and so on. In Healthcare, Machine Learning is often been used to predict patient’s stay in the hospital, the likelihood of occurrence of a disease, identifying abnormal patterns in the cell, etc. Many software companies have incorporated Machine Learning in their workflow to steadfast the process of testing. Various manual, repetitive tasks are being replaced by machine learning models. Comparison Between AI and Machine Learning Machine Learning is the subset of Artificial Intelligence which has taken the advancement in AI to a whole new level. The thought behind letting the computer learn from themselves and voluminous data that are getting generated from various sources in the present world has led to the emergence of Machine Learning. In Machine Learning, the concept of neural networks plays a significant role in allowing the system to learn from themselves as well as maintaining its speed, and accuracy. The group of neural nets lets a model rectifying its prior decision and make a more accurate prediction next time. Artificial Intelligence is about acquiring knowledge and applying them to ensure success instead of accuracy. It makes the computer intelligent to make smart decisions on its own akin to the decisions made by a human being. The more complex the problem is, the better it is for AI to solve the complexity. On the other hand, Machine Learning is mostly about acquiring knowledge and maintaining better accuracy instead of success. The primary aim is to learn from the data to automate specific tasks. NLP, a field of AI which has made some ground-breaking innovations in recent years uses Machine Learning to understand the nuances in natural language and learn to respond accordingly. Different sectors like banking, healthcare, manufacturing, etc., are reaping the benefits of Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning. Several tedious tasks are getting automated through ML which saves both time and money. Machine Learning has been sold these days consistently by marketers even before it has reached its full potential. AI could be seen as something of the old by the marketers who believe Machine Learning is the Holy Grail in the field of analytics. The future is not far when we would see human-like AI. It performs Facial recognition with high accuracy. This attendance project uses webcam to detect faces and records the attendance live in an excel sheet. In order to determine the distinctive aspects of the faces based on distance, convolutional neural networks are used. All you need to do is stand in front of the camera and your face is verified instantly in milliseconds, without recording the attendance more than once. Facial recognition systems are commonly used for verification and security purposes but the levels of accuracy are still being improved. Errors occurring in facial feature detection due to occlusions, pose and illumination changes can be compensated by the use of hog descriptors. The most reliable way to measure a face is by employing deep learning techniques. The final step is to train a classifier that can take in the measurements from a new test image and tells which known person is the closest match. A python based application is being developed to recognize faces in all conditions. We study the question of feature sets for robust visual object recognition; adopting linear SVM based human detection as a test case. After reviewing existing edge and gradient based descriptors, we show experimentally that grids of histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) descriptors significantly outperform existing feature sets for human detection. We study the influence of each stage of the computation on performance, concluding that fine-scale gradients, fine orientation binning, relatively coarse spatial binning, and high-quality local contrast normalization in overlapping descriptor blocks are all important for good results. The new approach gives near-perfect separation on the original MIT pedestrian database, so we introduce a more challenging dataset containing over 1800 annotated human images with a large range of pose variations and backgrounds.

Object Detection in general means machines method to locate and label objects. These techniques can be used for both static and dynamic data. These techniques are already in wide use in many industries such as smart phones, sports, smart vehicles. Various methods have been adopted to get the optimal way for recognizing the objects in an image and many of these techniques have a major problem in space management and communication between multiple different platforms. Open source libraries such as OpenCV’s DNN library and tensorflow Object detection API offer easy-to-use, open source frameworks where pre trained models for object detection reaches high accuracy. However the main aim being the space management and versatility of the model among different platforms is the main focus of study here. We have developed an object recognition model using convolutional neural networks that is trained and tested with the CIFAR-10 dataset. The model is based on linear regression as we are using the same to train and test our model. Also since the training process is complex, time consuming and space consuming, we will store our training data in a .h5 file. Then we can use the same file for the same model or a different model using the same training data as a part of multiple models used in the detector. In this project TensorFlow and Keras API are used to facilitate the process of building, training and testing the model. Tensor flow is a high level library for numerical computation. It helps us to build machine learning model, however we have to build each layer within our network and manually build training and testing loops and optimizers. It is Flexible and easy to use but keras acts as an API that works on TensorFlow to make all the attributes of a model easily accessible. Keras basically works on top of the other machine learning frameworks. While building our model we will see the difference in accuracy that we will get when we are using different activation functions (such as Tanh, Relu, LeakyRelu, Softmax ) for the same model. The Object recognizer that we are going to built can identify objects from ten different domains that are mentioned in the CIFAR-10 dataset. This dataset contains 60,000 32x32 images, 6000 images in each class. There are 50,000 training images and 10,000 testing images in random order.This model can act as a base for a more complex object recognizer, It can be used as a part of a larger model consisting a large no of models. This model can be used for quick load applications and mobile applications as well. The programming for the following project has been done using python ver.3.5.1. Also the other in built libraries have been used.
Abstract With the advancement of Deep Neural Networks (DNN), the accuracy of sound classification such as Urban Sound Classification, Environmental Sound Classification etc., has been significantly improved. In this project, we propose a model that uses Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to identify sound based on the spectrograms for different sound samples collected. The model can be used for detection of deforestation, detection of shooting in urban areas and detection of strange noises at odd hours in streets such as Air Conditioner, Car Horn, Children Playing, Dog bark, Drilling, Engine Idling, Gun Shot, Jackhammer, Siren, Street Music etc., Challenges Environmental sound work has two major obstacles, namely the lack of audio data labelled. Previous work focused on audio from carefully produced films or TV tracks from particular environments such as elevators or office spaces and commercial or proprietary datasets. Lack of fundamental vocabulary in Environmental Sounds work. This means that the classification of sounds in to the semantic groups may vary from study to study, making it difficult to compare results so the goal of this notebook is to address the two challenges mentioned above. Automatic attendance management system will replace the manual method, which takes a lot of time and is difficult to maintain.There are many bio metric processes ,in that face recognition is the best method. In our campus staff attendance is taken with the help of Gesture recognition /attendance sheet .We can take this to next level by implementing Artificial Intelligence based Face Recognition using Convolution Neural Network(CNN). We have to train our neural net using COCO (large Image dataset designed for object detection) and Staff Dataset (Several images of individual staffs). Since we don't have the photos of the staffs,we have trained our neural net using our own photos.Our Neural net consists of 20 neurons in the hidden layer which help us to diagnose the pixels of the image and compares the result with the trained dataset .By using our advanced system the staffs can use their own mobile/laptop [camera] for registering their presence in their own place which is possible only if they are connected to our college Network (WiFi).

Object recognition in images is challenging task in the area of computer vision and image processing in this work we present object classification and detection using our own created dataset.we used convolutional neural network on keras with tensorflow support the experimental results shows the time required to train, test and create the model in limited computing system. CNNs scan the image with learnable “filters” and extract more and more abstract features at each layer. Filters in early layers may for example detect edges or color gradients, while later layers may register complex shapes.

Different varieties of the recognition problem are described in the literature:[citation needed] Object recognition (also called object classification) – one or several pre-specified or learned objects or object classes can be recognized, usually together with their 2D positions in the image or 3D poses in the scene. Blippar, Google Goggles and LikeThat provide stand-alone programs that illustrate this functionality. Identification – an individual instance of an object is recognized. Examples include identification of a specific person's face or fingerprint, identification of handwritten digits, or identification of a specific vehicle. Detection – the image data are scanned for a specific condition. Examples include detection of possible abnormal cells or tissues in medical images or detection of a vehicle in an automatic road toll system. Detection based on relatively simple and fast computations is sometimes used for finding smaller regions of interesting image data which can be further analyzed by more computationally demanding techniques to produce a correct interpretation. Currently, the best algorithms for such tasks are based on convolutional neural networks. This project implements a two-stage AI pipeline to detect and recognize Iranian license plates using YOLO (You Only Look Once) for object detection and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for character recognition.
The object detection are performed on the digit recognition data images. The images data are converted and stored in the Mnist Data format. To detect the images, two classifier are trained and tested, the two classifiers are convolution neural network and support vector machine. Here, the test image are segmented into individual digit to predict the required output. Image segmentation is performed using OpenCV.

A single neuron neural network in Python Neural networks are the core of deep learning, a field which has practical applications in many different areas. Today neural networks are used for image classification, speech recognition, object detection etc. Now, Let’s try to understand the basic unit behind all this state of art technique. A single neuron transforms given input into some output. Depending on the given input and weights assigned to each input, decide whether the neuron fired or not. Let’s assume the neuron has 3 input connections and one output. We will be using tanh activation function in given example. The end goal is to find the optimal set of weights for this neuron which produces correct results. Do this by training the neuron with several different training examples. At each step calculate the error in the output of neuron, and back propagate the gradients. The step of calculating the output of neuron is called forward propagation while calculation of gradients is called back propagation.
Keypoints detection is a critical element in object recognition. In order to train a model to predict keypoints, the groundtruth data, which usually is the position of keypoints on the train set, is needed. Common traditional approaches use the coordinates of the position of each keypoints and learn a model to detect keypoints. The deficiency of this approach is scale-dependency, which means the model is sensitive to scale of inputs, and does not guarantee to work on different scale inputs. In order to overcome this issue, we use an approach that proposed by (Cao, Zhe et al. (2017)). In this method, a confidence map is created for each keypoints and is used as groundtruth in order to learn a fully convolutional neural network. By using this approach, the learned model would be scale-invariant. This neural network has been implemented by Keras.
